A study led by psychiatry professor Alexander Niculescu and his team from Indiana University School of Medicine is developing a blood test to measure pain biomarkers accurately.
The test would be an excellent support for doctors who could implement the best treatments for patients and, very important, it may be possible to have an objective measure of pain.
During the study, they observed the biomarkers in the blood, this would allow the doctors to give an evaluation of the intensity of the pain that the patient is experiencing.
